After a long and difficult day at work, a lot of us can get a headache, or feel physically and mentally exhausted. These are normal reactions to stress.
But if we’re having bad headaches too frequently, feeling irritated, getting anxious or being unable to sleep - we might be suffering from chronic stress.
If our stress levels stay high, it can harm our health. How can you know if you have chronic stress? See if you have more than one of the following symptoms:
Over- or undereating
Addiction to drugs or alcohol
Losing your temper easily
High blood pressure
These symptoms can affect our wellbeing badly and can also make daily tasks more difficult to cope with.
What we can do is identify what causes stress in our lives and try to work to reduce these stress levels so that we can get some time and energy to heal.
